Ball hit to 1B. 1B bobbles it, and picks it up with her bare hand.

She lunges to 1B and tags the bag with her empty glove.

Safe or out?

(I think out, but I want to double check.)

Out, her foot or shoe aren't attached to the ball either when she steps on the base. The only time the ball must be in the glove is when the defender is physically tagging the runner with the glove.
