Runners on 1st and 2nd. Ground ball to shortstop. Runner going to third runs past shortstop and around her. The shortstop makes the play and tosses to second baseman for the force.

The umpire calls the girl out at second and then calls our runner going to third out for interference. Ends up in a game ending double play.

To me it shouldn't be a double play. Either there was no interference in which case the runner at second is out. Or there was interference and the runner going to third is out but the ball is dead.

If R1 committed interference the ball is dead at that instant, there can be no play at 2nd base.

Can there be interference on R1 if there's no contact with the SS?

Either way, Comp is right about interference being a deadball.

Contact is not required for interference. Have no idea on the play being posted, would have to see it for myself. If runner went behind fielder I can hardly see how that could possibly be interference. Running in front, again would have to see what runner did and how much room they gave the fielder.

Yep. Just googled it. THanks Comp.
