Apologize if this makes no sense. :)

Is there a standard way to just give batter 1st base without throwing any pitches?

Is the batter-runner stuck on 1st until next pitch?

If a runner is on 2nd, 1st base open, are they allowed to advance?

Opposing coach came out of the dugout earlier this week (HS game) and told HP umpire that he wanted to intentionally walk our 4 hole hitter, so HP umpire just sent her to 1B. No pitches were thrown. They did it twice. I assume it must be allowed in the NFHS rule set, and it appeared to be a dead ball base award so no one else can advance any further than forced.

Nfhs brought in the no pitch walk this year. It is a dead ball as soon as the coach or any player informs the umpire they want to walk the batter. I have had coaches do it several different ways, one coach called time and came out to talk to me, another signalled his catcher and her tell me and another just yelled blue, pointed at the batter and then pointed to first. No no runners may advance unless forced by the walk and no the batter cannot proceed past first.
