If batter/runner is walked, can she over run first base?

Thinking set ups for various steals.

And after over running first, as long as she doesn’t stop or return to bag she can advance to 2nd whether p has ball is in circle or not, correct?

I was wondering where you were going with this but yes again.

One step back to base she should be called out but as long as she keeps going, even from right field, she is good.

I would think if she turned right she would be in trouble but not sure. Turning right to me seems like going back to 1st but again not sure.

A batter that is walked can indeed round first, stop, then return to 1st base when the P has the ball in the circle.

At this point she is like any other baserunner - they can all stop once in between bases when the P has the ball in the circle, but after stopping they must "immediately" proceed to the base they were headed to or return to the base they last occupied (look back rule). Of course the "immediate" is umpire's judgment, typically 1-2 seconds.

Indy hs coach I was wondering specifically about the intentional base on balls. Now that you say that it makes sense that the ball is dead.

There are 2 different rules floating around.

The one that is gaining traction is not to pitch to batter and just give them 1st. Could see that being dead ball and batter frozen on 1st.

The normal rule were pitcher needs to throw the pitches, no restrictions.

Great video, Thanks I am showing this to my team tonight. We talked about this but it is always easier to show what you mean.
