Hope I'm able explain this where it makes since. I was told by a well experienced umpire that on a pop fly that is bobbled at least once then is caught that the batter/ runner is out, but any runner on base does not have to tag up in order to advance to the next base.
Is this the correct call ? Thanks for any clarification.

Once the ball is touched by a fielder, the runner can go. So they do have to tag up, but they don't have to wait until all the bobbling is done.

The runners still have to tag up, but it seems that the definition of "tagging up" is the problem here. The runners have tagged up if they have gone back to/stayed on the bag once the ball is touched the first time by a fielder. So as CoachJD said above, they don't have to wait for the bobbling to be done. They tag up when the first glove touches the ball and then they are clear to run. Hope that helps clarify!

Runners can leave the base on the first touch by a defender. Doesn't make any difference when the ball is caught or by whom.

BTW, I can document this rule back to 1936, so this really isn't anything new. :)
