If she did indeed reach first safely then the IP was negated and the offensive coach just chose to take the result of the play.

I wonder if the NCAA adapting the new rule will help generate support in the other committees. Otherwise you are still going to end up with a lot of illegal pitchers arriving at the college level. If umpires at 12U, 14U and 16U would start calling IPs the number of pitchers doing it would drop dramatically.
