Back on the dirt...
I appreciate the men and women in blue. I wouldn't want to do it. But I think I would have got these calls right. Lol

First one, our batter was called out on a 2-2 count after 4 pitchers were thrown. We had a runner on 2 and she stole 3b, catcher throws to 3, over thrown, our runner comes home. After the play the base ump confers with plate ump and plate ump calls batter out. After coach confers with plate ump, and book keeper, which was us since we were home, they follow through with calling our batter out on strikes. How do you handle this since there is no way to prove it happened? I gopro our games and I just finished watching the AB and for sure there were only 4 pitches thrown.

Another play that was botched was the other team AB, batter puts down a bunt and the balls spins back into the dropped bat. Plate ump calls foul ball. During the play runner on 1 advanced and we put out the batter runner at 1. After the play, r1 is returned to 1b and foul ball is called. A pitch is thrown. Ump then declares mistake on his part, says redo the pitch, runner remains on first, batter resumes count prior to "fouled bunt". Ended up striking out batter and we did win the game but it was a poorly called game all around.

We had our own issues this fall. One umpire was drunk and doing the airplane and making calls to help the game end quicker. The game before he did his best Leslie Nielsen "Naked Gun" impersonation on calls. Taking like 5 seconds to make calls on the field of play. Doubt we go to that one again. I guess although you should play well enough Blue shouldn't factor in but in this case it did. We needed to score more bottom line.

#1, sounds like everyone did what they should. I am courius if ump over rode official score.

I like the redo, I want a redo. I think rule is Ump can try to repair the game if they make an incorrect call. With another pitch they can can not back track, it was to be resolved one way or other before next pitch.

I had an umpire who blew the count (what should have been ball 4 was only ball 3) cite the scoreboard as evidence he was correct, but the scoreboard operators only changed the count to reflect what he insisted was correct (it was not, of course, as I explained as I described each pitch). He also tried to pick a fight, must have realized he was wrong after insisting he wasn't, and then said "I'm only human. I make mistakes."

That was the only time I've ever had an umpire get mad at me for walking away (like I said, he wanted a fight). Guys like that shouldn't be out there, but when you have a shortage of umps, they pretty much let anybody who isn't Charles Manson do the job.

I can't even start with the bad umpiring stories. I have too many to count and DD is only first year 12U. That said, I acknowledge that even the crappiest umps are probably doing a better job than I could.

Not sure if it has to do with the age my daughter is playing at (10u) but we get some pretty poor umps in some games. I guess they have to start somewhere. Tournament this summer. Leadoff batter is up in the top of the first ball 4, the batter should have walked. The umpire lost track of the count on the first batter of the game. Going to be a long day when that happens.

Tournament this fall. Runners on 1st and second, with one out. Batter hits a ball about over the 3rd baseman's head and lands about 10 feet into the grass. Base ump calls infield fly rule. Defense did not have a player within 20 feet of the ball when it landed in the grass. This was also 10u.

We had one lose track of the count. DD had a full count, threw a strike, and he called it strike 2. Our official scorekeeper had 3, I had 3, the people keeping the scoreboard had 3. Conveniently, the other team was home and they said gosh, we have 2. She had to throw another pitch which ended up being a ball and walked the girl to load the bases. Next one was a ground out for out 3 so it ended up ok but come on! How does the plate ump lose track of the count? It's one of their main jobs and they have a clicker to keep up.

To be fair we should we start a bad coaches thread in the coaching forum and a bad parents thread in the parents one? I'm sure the umps have lots of stories.
