This is a side note to the discussion, but relates to plays at 2b. A HUGE issue I have as a coach is when kids DON"T slide. Unless the runner picks me up and I'm waving her on to 3b, she better SLIDE. I cannot tell you the number of kids on many teams I see going into 2nd base standing up for no reason other than laziness. SLIDE. If nothing else, do it for practice! Do a slide-by, do a pop-up, go in head first. I don't care, just get down! (Ok, I feel better now, until I see it again!)
