Sounds like a sacrifice that reached on an error. It would be hard for me to score this a base hit. If fielded correctly and the pitcher threw home then it would have been a sacrifice and reached on a fielders choice. If the pitcher fielded cleanly and threw the hitter out then it is just a sacrifice.

RBI also.

Not sure how this would be scored a base hit unless it was obvious the runner would have reached (in that case it would be the scorekeepers judgement and hopefully the scorekeeper isn't the bunter's parents ;-).

Thanks everyone! I scored a single, 1 RBI because the runner coming home would have been safe anyway and a play at 1B would not have been a sure thing because of the hitter's speed. Plus, the P was the only defender with a chance at it, as 1B and 3B were surprised by it and C had to stay home with a runner coming. I didn't give a 2nd RBI because I felt that the 2nd run scored on subsequent action and not on the batted ball. There was some debate among our team, so you all have helped clear it up. Thanks again.

Given this statement I do not see how you can score anything besides a hit and a RBI...in essence there is no "error" because the result would have been the exact same thing if fielded cleanly at least that's what you said.

Now part two is a little more interesting and I'm not sure I have the same notion as others who seem to treat this as a second action this is a live ball and play is continuous and as stated there is no "error" per se.

So basically you have a player trying to stretch a single (we awarded a hit) into a double. Now IMO this is the classic case of a fielders choice the P can hold the ball (which I would probably score as fielder's indifference if the runner reached 2B safely) BUT since the P chose to take the out instead of protect a run from being score it's a FC, so just as any case of out over stopping run no RBI credited.

So IMO you scored it correctly.
