We're the visiting team. Score at the end of 5 full innings: 11-2 home team.

Start the top of the 6th inning. BB, then HBP, then 4 straight BBs (including an illegal pitch) to score 3 runs. Rain has been falling during the inning. After the last walk, thunder rolls, and the umpires clear the fields for our standard (in NY) 30-minute rule. About 15 minutes later, the fields are gone, so we (the coaches) call the game as is.

Score reverts back to the end of the 5th inning - Final score: 11-2 (home team)

Question: Do the stats count in the top half of the 6th inning towards the batters (like their OBP, etc) or not? Since the score reverts back to the 5th inning, it's almost like we don't treat the batters/runs that scored as even "having happened" for the sake of the final outcome.

Stats in the top of the sixth would not count officially.

Of course, a travel team can keep keep stats for its own benefit. Keeping those stats might help in the evaluation of players.

But officially speaking, they would not count.

That is what I do with reverted or shortened games. Any full at bat counts, if the game ends in the middle of an at bat it does not.

I opted to go the first route and not count the statistics. If the at-bats did not count in an inning that contributed to the score, then I don't feel they should count to a player's statistics (though for many of mine, it would have been beneficial to their OBPs). I try to make sure my stats (for the girls' knowledge) are fully-reflective of what they did that counts in our games - if something didn't count to a final score, it shouldn't count (positive/negative) to them. Just my feeling.

Appreciate the input from everyone. =)

So, that 2 out bases empty triple shouldn't count if they get stranded?

Are you just asking if the 5 walks and one HBP should be added to stats? From what it sounds like the pitcher was really struggling (maybe because of the rain) and I would imagine these weren't hard fought walks with foul balls and a good eye, they just happened to be the 6 players standing at the plate when the pitcher was struggling in the rain.

If a player hits a triple, even off of a struggling pitcher, I would have a harder time deciding to keep the stats or not.

My 2 cents, which is about what its worth...

If these we're official stats being used for something like All-State or League Leaders then I wouldn't use them.

If they are just for me as a coach to gather info on my players performances in real games, then I'd use them. They really happened in a real game, so they are usable info. So a batter's ops is .455 instead of .449 what's the harm.
