Here's a new one for me - stop me if you've seen this one before.

DD is on deck swinging her bat this morning. The plate umpire calls time and walks over to DD - tells her that her bat weight is an "Unapproved bat weight" and that she is not allowed to use it.

Here's the weight... https://varobaseball.com/arc-softball

So that's a new one for me !

I have to ask... it comes down to money right !? This company didn't want to pay the 'brand name' tournament, USSSA, so therefore it's not allowed.

It is not about money, how the heck did they notice? Someone most have told them to check. Good news is they said something before she hit.

They have cracked down on bats the last 5 years or so and I am all for it.

The only bat weight I am aware of that is banned is the bat donut. There is no continuing taper in a softball bat like a baseball bat and they wont stay on. This weight appears to have been design specifically for softball bats.

This could be a good time to get your DD to stop using any kind of weight anyway, since science shows it actually slows down your swing.

Not an expert on the subject, but I do not think you are allowed to take any type of bat training weight into the on-deck circle.

Rule says no more than 2 bats, an approved warm up bat or a combination not to exceed 2. Any attachement on the bat must be USA approved.

NFHS says basically the same, except it has no wording about bat attachments so in NFHS bat weights are not permitted.

USSSA also uses the same basic wording as USA except the bats, warm up bat or attachment must be USSSA approved.
