Hey is there somewhere that has rule exceptions for 10u for ASA (USA) play? We are an all star team that was sanctioned under babe ruth for the regular season and want to see what the differences are. We've registered for a couple local usa tourneys that start in a couple weeks.

Our exceptions were no stealing home, coach pitch ( I know that wont translate), run limits per inning, and a few others. Just want to make sure I'm aware of anything that we should be getting ready for.

Thanks

As far as the USA Softball rules go, there are only two differences from the rest of the JO rules

1. Pitching distance is 35 feet
2. An 11" ball is used

The exceptions you mentioned are "local" rules in effect for the league you played in. I highly recommend contacting the organizers of the tournaments you have signed up for to learn if they have enacted any rule variations for the 10u division.

Some tournaments will have local rules that will be posted. Sometimes the rules are more liberal for Saturday Pool plan than Sunday bracket play.
As an example the ASA/USA Tour we are playing this week (12B) says "straight ASA rules" with the following exceptions for Saturday pool play - you may bat your whole lineup, all players in lineup will be free defensive substitution, and courtesy runners for any player may be used but a player can only courtesy run once per inning. Sunday is straight ASA.

10U might have additional qualifications for Saturday such as a per inning run rule limit. But each tour may vary.

Basically straight ASA is pretty close to what someone might view as "regular" softball rules. There may be some minor quirks between the alphabet soup org rules but they are all "pretty close" on the big stuff. Just review the DP/Flex rule if you plan on using it on Sunday to get 10 players involved.

Typical 10U rules in ASA: (these are all just what I have seen over the years locally): 1) 5 runs per inning (other organizations do the 5 up rule, where you can score as many runs as it takes to go ahead of your opponent by 5 runs, but no more); 2) all players must play in the field for six consecutive defensive outs (or two innings, whichever is less); 3) sometimes, you can bat the entire lineup up to 12; 4) relaxed rules over what is and is not an illegal pitch.
