Here is one which, it turns out, I only got half right.
Varsity game played under USA rules which I am doing solo.
R1 and R2.
1 out.
Batter hits a shot to right and both runners take off.
No catch.
R2 reaches 3rd and--- for some strange reason--decides to run back to second base and in doing so runs past R1.
R1 is shocked and tells R 2 to run back to 3rd, which she does but stops on the bag.
Now R 1 pushes R 2 off 3rd base , shouting, "Go! Go!"
R2 runs towards the plate but by this time the defense gets the ball to F2 who tags her out.
Now R1 is on third and B/R is on second.
How would you guys have ruled on this?

Your runner numbering is backward, but using your numbering, R1 is out when she got ahead of R2 returning to 2nd base, ball remains live. R2 is out on the tag at home plate, 3 outs inning over.

That is how I called it but as I said, I only got it half right.
I just read the June 2016 clarification on the old ASA website and this play is listed.
I immediately called out R 1 for passing but when she pushed R2 off third she was no longer a runner assisting a runner so R 2 should have been called out immediately.
Live and learn, eh?

Yep, wasn't thinking about differentiating between a runner vs a retired runner.

When R1 passed R2 do you immediately yell "runner out" or something to signify to the defense that she is no longer an active participant? If so what do you yell?
