I am OK with protest, it only got as far as it did because ...

Be shame if they pulled crew, they were probably the only ones in the park that knew what was going on.

I would like to think that if the protest is upheld, they wouldn't have to pull the crew except from another state to finish the game.

From things I saw on another board, they claim the umpires were not pulled from any other games even though the article says they were From what the poster said officials that work semi final games cannot work championship games.

They also said the athletic association voted 3-1 to not accept the appeal. My comment was, whoever the 1 dissenting vote was that wanted to allow the appeal must not know how to read a rule book or case book because the exact situation is covered.

They have a major cluster f*** going on there. They arent even suppose to accept protests in the first place, then the protesting team used pro baseball rules in their filing of the protest. Now the board of trustees appears to have gone rogue, completely ignored the rule book and what the umpires saw on the field and ordered a 3rd game in the serious.

While I dont like to see courts involved in these matters, sure sounds like the other team now has a pretty good court case since the board of trustees has completely ignored their own rules in upholding the protest.

Well it appears the GHSA has ordered a game 3 be played because the officials working the game were not sure of the ruling so they used a cell phone to make a call to verify what the ruling should be under NFHS rules. Even though the call was in fact ultimately correct, GHSA is overturning their call, awarding the win to the other team and ordering a 3rd game be played.

And then people wonder why there's a shortage of umpires when associations throw them under the bus like this.

Despicable.

Everyone wants to chant the mantra, "WE HAVE TO GET THE CALL RIGHT!." But, as my friend Ajay is fond of saying, it is nothing but double speak for, "only if the call goes my way." Obviously the team filing the appeal, (GHSA doesnt accept protests, so this was not a protest it was an "appeal", therefore acceptable to be heard) doesnt care if the call was correct or not, they simply want the call to go there way rules be damned and somehow convinced 5 trustee board members to go along with them.

I can't imagine the need for a heated pole barn in Georgia, so they must have something else the board members wanted.
