Hopefully this is a learning experience for both the players and coaches. Shocked not a single player or coach picked up on this? Coaching 101. At the younger age groups we always reminded the catchers and batters about DTS with two strikes, which happens quite a bit at this age with inexperienced catchers. You might also remind them about the infield fly rule as they probably are not aware of this rule either?

Sadly it was a JV game. Everyone should have known better.

Gotcha. Pitching DD had a JV game like that where on a close DTS, the catcher rolled the ball back to the circle and DD had to field it and run over to 1st base to make the official out as the defense was vacating the field. Her JV coaches are pretty new to the game but her infielders should have known better as most of them have played travel ball before. JV can be a train wreck...

If 1st base was occupied (you said bases were loaded), then drop 3rd strike is no longer in effect. Batter is out...you can stop worrying about it now :)

Dropped 3rd IS in effect ALL the time with 2 outs. Even with 1st base occupied.
