Catcher drills batter

Batter interference, she is out. To me it did not look intentional. Catcher seemed genuinely concerned for the batter. Catcher most likely did just as she was taught. Tough call but it looked like the right call was made.

Right, as confirmed/clarified by Comp below, it is the batter who is out!

If the batter had just stayed put in the batters box there would not have been any interference and the ball would have still been live.

Maybe. Maybe not. The batters box is not a safe haven where anything goes. If the batter moves into the throwing lane like that. It's interference.

No, the player committing the interference is out and that is the batter. Unless the player committing the interference is already out, then it moves to the runner closest to home.

Of course, without the proper angle, we are assuming it is INT and not just the catcher hitting the batter with the throw. Call may have been accurate, but as noted, the ruling was not.

I'm impressed this umpire has those special shoes with the brushes on the sole he can use to sweep the plate.
