A batted ball. The fielder that is most likely to make the play on the ball has priority to the ball, and right of way to make the play. If in the umpires judgement,the ability to make a 'fair' play on the ball is inhibited by the base runner, then interference can be called. (the part that i love to get into is that the double play could have happened if not for interference! that one is where it gets real interesting)
