I know the answer for the bird, but what about the ball? Dead or Live?

As I understand it, the MLB umpire called dead ball / no pitch. What would the right call be in ASA?

I think so, one of my favorite clips.

(Sorry pigeon lovers, I am sure it was OK and flew off just the video doesn't go long enough)

It meets the definition of a blocked ball, which kills it upon contact. Using 10.3.C, I would concur with the MLB ruling.

The bird got up, shook it off, looked at Johnson and said "Is that the best you got?" Then walked off the field.
