2nd year 12U. What do you have your DD pitchers do as a workout schedule? If you are only playing weekends, do you typically not workout the day before/the day after a tournament? Does not working out the day before a tournament make DD's arm "live" on tournament days?

Do you typically work out less (pitching) once the season has started?

I am more concerned about the after-weekend side. I always make DD take 2 full days off from pitching or pitching drills after a long weekend tourney. Let the body rebuild before easing back into it.

On Friday before, maybe some light work but I wouldn't overdo it. It's not like she's going to get better the day before a tournament, but a little muscle memory reminder is good as well as doing mental prep and building confidence.

It depends upon how much she pitched.

If she pitched one game Saturday and one game Sunday, then nothing on Monday, Tuesday focus on problem areas that came up during the games, hard practice on Wednesday, light on Thursday and then maybe some underhand pitch and catch on Friday.

If she pitched seven games over two days, then a little underhand pitch and catch on Tuesday (nothing hard, just something to keep the arm loose), light practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and then a little underhand pitch and catch for Friday. Focus on problem areas in Wednesday and Thursday practices other than speed work.
