My 9 yo DD sees a PC that is affiliated with with Tincher pitching. He changed a lot of things, but DD seems to respond well to what is being asked. Initially, the problem was DD would bend at the end. So we sought advice and PC fixed her mechanic issues and has her throwing harder. (throwing 40mph consistently - up to 44mph - at 9 years old.)

I have no doubt Mr. Tincher is a great pitching coach. I am a coach that believes you should be as sound mechanically as you can possible be. I am not one that believes that there is only one way to pitch the ball. Mr. Tincher says you have to pitch a certain way mechanically to be able to be 5'7" and throw 70mph. But yet I've seen others the same size throwing the same speed with slightly different mechanics.
I've read this thread and heard what he teaches compares to how his own DD actually throws and I'm 1/2 way through his video now and am at the part where he tells the pitcher her glove should not come down before the ball hand comes down, but clearly his DD does this as well. This is not costing his DD any speed, will it cost the average pitcher speed?
I have some students with pretty decent mechanics and my overall fastest pitcher has mechanics far inferior to her slower counterparts. So we hit on stuff that I believe will help her add more speed and control, but I'm not going to break her down and dwell too much on it. She's just a strong kid.

Maybe not all successful pitchers are meant to be "model" pitchers. But I agree it's a good building block to bring a kid up on.

Tincher is the 1st pitcher that I've seen that my DD pitches like in regards to not letting her arm flow out after release. She'll do it if she's thinking about it. But, in a game she brings her arm right back. Her PC hates it. Haha.

you must remember that Danny Tincher and his pitching staff continually updates and changes things for the better. Angela pitched years ago and what Tincher teaches today may have changed -- and always for the better.

With all due respect, Mr. Tincher never pitched a day in his life. That's why the description does not match what is actually done. .

OILF - who the hell cares if DT never pitched a day in his life? The man can teach and he and his pitching instructors are always on the move - changing things making adjustments as necessary to pitching instruction to make it BETTER.

unlike MANY OLD farts who think that what they have been taught 20 years ago IS the only way to pitch and never make any changes to their pitching style.

Top Notch, I have my DD seeing Jonathan as well - he's the only Tincher certified PC in the Chicago area. My DD is 13U, throws low 50's - trying to use these methods to get her into the mid 50's this season. I like Jonathan's energy - very positive even for a 60 minute lesson. The PC's I have used before were 30 minute lesson oriented and I was a little worried about the lesson length.

The gym step should not be taught. Because it has been allowed so long, the problem is rampant. I have had two different pitchers trying to follow all the swinging and rocking, with one having a shoulder injury and the other having a glove shoulder issue. Neither of them was consistent, although they had pitched for years in rec and C-level TB, and no one stopped them.
You def. are out in LEFT FIELD. HOW MANY D1 pitchers do you have???????????? Is Carly Hoover 1 of them??????? Just 1! Please? I see why you have a REPUTATION!! Besides totally out in left field! Mr. Tincher taught Angela to pitch!!!! My daughter went to high performance camp in virginia in January, 25 12u in first group WOW would have loved to seen how your girls stacked up im sure you have many throwing deadly accurate in the mid 50s!!! Then comes the high school group HOLY CRAP there where about 5 underclass that could start as an ace for many teams in d1 RIGHT NOW! Not to mention all the girls there that have already signed with d1 schools. My daughter is about 75 percent stikes, looks like she is shot out of a cannon, and the movement. Put your best in the box! Some of the best coaches in the world, NEVER PLAYED THE GAME THEY COACHED, maybe they would be better if they coached from LEFT FIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok not going to beat you up like olaf the talking snow man! The 1st thing he will tell you when you see him is that Angela wasnt perfect! He thinks she could have changed some things that would have made her better which he is now teaching. Angela Tincher better, Holy Crap how scary would that b... She was his first attemt, I think I will give him a little pass. The 1st time we showed up all he did was try to make my daughter better, didnt try to change every thing! Just little things that he knew would help her pick up speed, without much effort. Mission accomplished! Never bad mouthed any one or way she was taught just help. Then he called one of his local students to see if they would reschedule. Since we had driven 11 hours to see him. They where more than happy and we then came back 3 hrs later for another session. Then we fixed more little things. and picked up more speed, movement, and accuraccy. In three hrs time we had come farther than we had in 2 years! For the 1st time she felt like she could become an elite pitcher. Not average or good, Elite. No looking back. Are there other good or maybe even great coaches out there absolutely! Do some teach a heavy drag on the side of the foot sure. Look at Lacy Waldrop great pitcher, her pitching coach teaches that big anchor. How many kids get back injuries from that, not sure but sure does look painfull to me. Her pitching coach has had some other d1 pitchers as well. The biggest thing with Denny though is that she can now throw all day with NO muscle soreness or any thing, Except just exaustion from flat getting after it. Not knocking any one but OLAF!
