I did a quick search of the threads and didn't see a direct answer to my question so if it's out there I apologize.

What is the pitching distance for 14U for 2011? I assume all sanctions will be the same but if there different please call that out as well.

Thanks,
Tom

According to the websites, USSSA and USFA will be 43' as of 1/1/2011 (14 & up). ASA should come out with the same ruling in November.

Where did you get that info regarding USFA? I heard they were considering and I hope you are correct but I can't find the published rule change anywhere.

Coaches, USFA National Staff had a meeting on 9/4 to discuss the 2011 World Series and 14U Pitching distance for 2011.

The outcome of the meeting was, the 1st week of the World Series (7/10 through 7/16) we will have 8U, 10A, 10B, 12A, 12B, and 14U Pitching from 40'. The Second week (7/17 through 7/23) we will be offering 14A & B (pitching from 43') 16A, 16B, 18A, &18B, as always 16's and 18's will pitch from 43'. We will allow each state to determine the Pitching distance for that state. 14U teams contact your Director to let them know your preference.

We are going to offer 14's with a choice of 40' or 43' with each State deciding which pitching distance to utilize. Contact your Area Director to state your preference.

Also the 2011 Database is now online. You can post your 2011 tournaments, and register your team for the 2011 season. Teams that sanction before 12/31/2010 will receive 50 Bonus points for registering online, 50 more bonus points if you use the Credit Card option, and 50 more for registering before 12/31/2010.

While your team can continue to play down this fall, your team points will not carry over to the 2011 season unless you reregister your team for 2011 season. When you register for 2011 you must play girls that are eligible for the 2011 age group.
Example; A 99 player can still play on 10U this fall as long as the team is not registered for the 2011 Season. If the team reregisters as a 10U team the 99 player must move up to 12U this fall. If you registered anytime after 8/1/2010 your registration is valid until 12/31/2011.

Teams that hosted tournaments in 2010, if you plan on hosting a USFA tournament again in 2011 contact your Area Director to secure your weekend.

We will hold our annual meeting in November, if you have any ideas for us to address or any rules changes that you would like to see. Please email them to Both Regional directors' jeffstroe@usfastpitch.com, bobbyhair@usfastpitch.com.

Thank You

Thanks - I never read those things - guess I should. Last year it was tourney option and I don't know of any tourneys that opted for 43' at 14u.

I'm going to lobby for our state (LA) to move to 43'. It just makes more sense than having to swap back and forth between TB, school ball and different association tourneys. Also, frankly its a pain to move the rubbers between games when fields are used for 14 and 16 in tourney.

Thanks.

Just sent and received an email from my state director (Illinois) for ASA. He said 14U will remain at 40' with some "specific" tournaments set up for 43' but will be labelled as such. So now I have to see if NSA and USSSA will follow suit. If they don't then it becomes a mess. I would still like to hear from others on the topic if they have confirmed the distance yet. Btw, I'm in a national qualifier next weekend and he has confirmed 40' as well.

Coach Tom, USSSA 14U is 43 feet in Illinois, we played two USSSA tournaments this fall and both were 43. Surprised to her about ASA, I thought they were going all in too.
