As stated, arm bend. I’d work on getting more palm up as well which will probably aid in arm bend. Read the IR thread at the top. Next thing would be her FSR to stop that forward effort in the second pic. See Front side resistance thread. Third would be a better sprinters position, see drive mechanics thread.

It's difficult to keep the arm properly bent/flexed when the shoulders close early. Staying open longer will assist her in keeping her arm bent and increasing the effect of IR. Sometimes telling them to 'stay open' doesn't resonate, I have started to tell my pitchers with this issue to 'stay sideways', it often gets my point across better.

Could her closed issue be her glove swim?

Shaun is right....
Glove swim is closing her shoulders ahead of her hips! (train to keep the glove on the power line)
This causes a couple issues.
1. sequence of the kinetic chain is broken. (takes the leg power out)
2. eliminates the overlap aka hip to shoulder separation (huge reduction in speed)

As others have said, needs to get some bend in that arm and get her inner bicep area tighter to her ribs on the centerline between her pit and hip. (this will produce a brushing whip)

Thanks everyone. All incredibly helpful. I always wondered why I couldn't get her to get more arm bend and lag so that we could see more whip. The shoulder pulling early makes perfect sense.

I'm not sure if glove swim is causing her shoulders to open early or her shoulders opening is causing the glove swim (for balance). She used to really torque with her shoulders (opened them up even more), but she has reduced it some. I guess we still have a ways to go.

Consider working on a more symmetrical adduction between the front and rear arms.
Adduction is a "LAT" move and the Lats affect thoracic rotation. Early adduction of the front arm can play a role with this problem.

Notice the arm positions between Java's girl and your dd.

Do some self pitches, where she catches the ball in her glove. She won't be able to do it with the glove swimming like that and it will teach her to keep her shoulders in the correct position all without you having to give any real instructions.

Hillhouse demonstrates the drill at about 9:15 in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2E4rlUNiBI (the whole clinic series is worth a watch).
