Ken, I recently bumped an ancient thread on pitchcalling that had some really good information that might help. I will try to find it again and post it here.

I’m hoping to put some information together to give to pitchers/catchers, parents and coaches on some key points in calling pitches. Balswick suggested I look into this guy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EDP3GNG?ref=aw_sitb_digital-text

Any other resources out there?

Found it. Pretty decent compilation of ideas from what I can tell. I agree with many, some not real sure but overall pretty good. Definitely some good ideas to ponder IMO.

Original thread from 2009:

Link inside the thread that takes you to a this site:

Hope it helps or at least some of it ;)

Ken,
Attached is a sheet I've had for awhile. There are a bunch of them out there. Also did you see my video on Facebook that featured Jen Herzig's seminar she did at the Virginia Coaches clinic?

I'm a little confused by the chart above. Now, I realize my beliefs are different than some... it's part of my charm!!! But why the heck would someone who thinks they have "all" the pitches find any need to have a "fastball"? That completely baffles me. If someone can make the ball go up and down, why would anyone want a ball that stays straight? Do you all have any idea how many HR's I've given up in my life on pitches that didn't move? Ones that stayed flat? A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't fathom doing that on purpose.

Good point Bill but where does it say throw straight in the chart above?? I looked at it a few times now rather quickly can't find where it says to throw any pitch straight or a fastball straight? Where are you seeing that? I do see fastball mentioned a couple of times to be thrown in or out and one of those was to a weak batter. Just not seeing anywhere on the chart that says throw straight or flat. Please help point that out.

On a side note, how is your weather in your neck of the woods? Saw that the Morgan State Tourney was cancelled. What?? A little ice and snow on the fields only makes it more exciting :p

Clearwater next weekend should be a welcomed change??!!!
