Java introduced this drill to my DD 3 weeks ago and it almost immediately fixed her timing. We had tried all of the above over the last 2 years and nothing stuck, mental block. She took this drill and incorporated it into a full delivery; her posture improved and her ability to locate improved right away. She had a slight up-tick in velocity as well. Each player learns in a slightly different way, this drill did the trick for my DD.
That's because she has such a kick-a$$ dad as a pitching coach... that... and she's pretty cool, too.
Nice pink bucket, btw!
What I love most was the DESIRE she had to make it happen in the full-pitch/live situation. That takes guts. Took a drill, made it a motion... and dang, threw the heck out of the ball in BP a week or two later.
I'll say it here... but the first girl I put in a DM drive mechanics drill made it to LSU... I think this last one will do something just as special. Pretty rare for a girl her age to throw 53-56mph, spin a TRUE rise, perfect 12-6 drop, and a change-up that's becoming amazing. Thanks for the permission... hoping L's example can help other young ladies turn this very important corner.

Does the foot move back and in during the actual pitch like he talks about during a normal pitch or does he do this just to create the feeling of the drive?
