The current Oregon pitcher is throwing 52-55 mph for fastballs. This is like 14u B speed. She is getting destroyed.

Megan Good the three time all American threw great, with 70+ mph pitches and change ups in the low 40's according to the TV radar.

Freshman pitcher for the Ducks, K Krueger never bested 56 mph. I found the (lack of) speed quite remarkable. I know the Ducks are hurting due to transfers, but I found it hard to believe the lack of speed from the Ducks pitcher. Even if the radar is accurate, 56mph? My 14 year old can throw faster than that (on a pocket radar, which is notoriously stingy). She's got good spin to boot. But a loooong way from Oregon.

The Oregon freshman is the product of an open tryout, not a recruit. They also have a senior soccer player on the roster.

You don't have to throw 65 to get a look from a power 5 .
As long as they can produce outs and have control, spin and movement that's where it's at. A perfect inning is not a 9 pitch 3 strike outs a perfect inning is a 3 pitch inning . IMO

Not quite sure how accurate these speeds are on ESPN but I see the majority of pitchers throwing in the low 60’s along with just a few throwing 65+. Can this be true? Wasn’t there just a thread along the lines that you have to throw 65+ to get a look from an Power 5 coach?

You don't have to throw 65+ to get a look from P5 school, but throwing 65+ will help you get noticed much sooner. When you go to camps and showcases, first thing coaches do is pull out their pocket radar and this is especially true when in camps where there is no scrimmage.
My daughter did not throw 65+ as a 14 YO and now as a 16 Yo, she pitches anywhere between 55-60 in the games. She never got any interest from big time schools even though she had high number of swing and misses during games. Only 1 P5 coach really paid attention to what she was doing so the coach decided to measure her spin rate and found out it was very high and that's the reason why my daughter was able to move the ball and produce swing and miss. Soon after that she offered my daughter.

As a 14 YO if a kid can pitch 60+ she will have more doors open for her.

Liberty Coach said the ESPN gun is 4MPH faster than pocket coach. She also said the fastest they faced last year was Garcia who was right at 70.
JMU pitcher looked like she was throwing 80 compared to that poor kid from Oregon. She did battle though

Boston College coach said the same thing about 3-5MPH fast on ESPN guns vs everyone else. Basically I am subtracting 4 from everyone.

Makes perfect sense. We have a kid in our org that throws 70. When you watch her pitch it's almost like a cartoon but you can see the difference. That kid from JMU was throwing gas.

I watched a game with Sandercock pitching over a year ago and she was consistently 66 mph on the pocket radar. The ESPN speeds may vary based on the home field or game.

My 8th grader throws 62 according to the Jugs in my cage. Shes also taller (at 5-7) than that pitcher at oregon but I'd never allow her to duck up her life
