Where did you find it was not approved? Last I knew it was approved for use in almost all organizations and it is listed on the gorilla gold website as being approved for USSSA.

I think Bill Hillhouse has a product that is approved by all.

I’m guessing USSSA hasn’t received a big enough check to insure the products safety.

I have the same info as everyone, I was told by the Gorilla Gold owners that it's legal just about everywhere. I know a lot of softball bodies approved it because it doesn't discolor the ball like pinetar and other grip enhancers do. It simply adds some sticky grip to your hand. Before Gorilla Gold, men's pitchers would routinely use pinetar (several balls were thrown out per game due to turning them black) or Firm Grip, which comes in a spray can or in a paste. We would usually put the paste in our gloves and just apply to the fingers as necessary. Similar to pitchers crow hopping, nobody cared... just play the game. in fact, hitters preferred it as it reduced hit by pitches drastically.

The owner/founder of Gorilla Gold told me on the phone that Tiger Woods uses it. Peyton Manning used it. And other big names, but he couldn't pay them for endorsements. True or not, I don't know. But that's what he said. Nearly every pitcher in the men's fastpitch world uses it, except for those playing in Japan which does NOT allow it.

How common is this at the younger (18U and below) ages? Rosin bags, dirt, etc., sure, but I haven't noticed this being used...maybe cause it's a secret weapon? ;-)

Tatonka my 14u just started using it this past year . Using the rev fire we tested it and was seeing gains of over 2 revolutions per second more than without . More spin more movement IMO.

DD keeps hers in the plastic bag inside her bat bag. If it's particularly cold or wet, she'll just tap the cloth with her fingertips and it's enough to prevent the ball from sailing out of her hand when conditions don't allow for getting a good grip. She's only 12, so I don't think she's at the point where she could take advantage of the tackiness to do anything crazy with the ball. It just keeps the pitches from flying into the on-deck circle when it's under 40 degrees.
