This is a student I am teaching. She has pitched in one scrimmage and nothing else. If anyone is willing to break it down and give me some tips it would be great. We live in a very rural area and most are not willing or able to afford pitching lessons. Its a new program where girls have played very little. I am all they have! Trying to learn

That is were I was heading. Middle school and highschool should allow her to step back too, if you have them. TB and non little league tourney would be an Issue. Fixable latter.

Right now I would have her step back with her left foot to get her weight behind the plate then drive forward. I like working with bigger muscles first. It is not a long jump completion so let her be comfertable driving off. Striding off should clear her hips to start working on arm motion.

She steps to far left for my liking. DD used to use her heal to mark power line on field along with 2 perpendicular lines where her front leg should land, just a range not hit here.

It does look like her drive foot is coming off plate, might have to fix that latter too. Which is Ok! They are not going to call it at this age.

Jealous if you are still practicing outside.

(Forgot something, if you do let her step back eliminate hands over her head. Move hand back with body.)

The biggest problem...no brush interference. Without brush interference, she will lose her control and walk a bunch of people...which will drive you absolutely crazy.

She has "monkey butt" syndrome. She sticks her butt out when she throws.

She should to stand straight up and let her body brush her right arm when she throws. "No monkey butt!"

Here is a video with the two best pitchers ever. Notice how the right arm contacts the body.

What drills can we do to get her to change this habit?
We scrimmaged last night and video looks identical

As my DD progresses I find myself coming back to the simple basic drills the forum elite recommend.

We are spending our winter working to clean up all of the power leaks in DDs motion. She is 14 but slight of build and will need it to keep her speed moving up.

For brush I would recommend the basic pitch into your own glove that Hillhouse has recommended. Simple but difficult unless you are staying tight, tall, and going at 45 degrees. After that then throw into a net or tarp.

Best of all you can do this in any space you have available!!
