Thanks, as for the glove. She use to swim a lot, so her PC had her do the drill where she points the glove at the target. She actually liked it, so the PC said as she should just keep her glove up. I thought it was strange. What does she lose by not bringing the glove down?
It's more of a symmetrical thing. Allows both sides of the body to work together in an ubducting action. It's a more powerful motion to bring in both arms at the same time. I don't know enough about biometrics to tell you if it would help with speed or not. But I do know a lot of the best pitchers in the world utilize it.

Mechanics aside what are you being taught on how to create power?

As far as speed goes she is pretty low for her age. She might have tried to get control and pitch before she learned how to throw underhand.

Mechanics wise I think she isn't firming up the front side/leg to catapult/whip the arm. You want to block, crack the whip with a stable front leg and shoulder.
Was faster as a hello elbow pitcher. Switched about a year ago. Have had about 4 pc’s. Mostly about driving out better, not using her shoulder and loser whip.

As for power she’s been doing core and yoga work in the offseason. She’s number3/4 on her team but coach gave the ultimative, over 46, hit spots and change up by spring, or no pitching. She’s working to get there. She hasn’t been clocked in about 4-5 months. So hoping she’s close.

I don't buy the whole hello elbow vs IR.

I also think there is more to the drive other than just pushing off hard.

How often or do you just throw the ball harder without trying to pitch (control). Just throw the ball the harder.

There are a few things I would like to see done better. Straightening the front leg/knee at release and keeping the throwing shoulder more stable (don't try to move it forward to guide the ball). Both things are to better crack the whip (catapult the arm/ball) and shoot the ball out of release.

I understand, but with hello elbow she was snapping her wrist well, now she doesn't snap anything too well.
I agree about the shoulder. That had been the biggest focus, until recently where we've been focusing on the lower half more. Do you have any drills the shoulder to stop her from doing that.
Not sure if its an age thing, but she has trouble feeling what she's doing and controlling her movements. Just having her make small adjustments takes tuns of repetition, and usually it reverts back once she goes full. She needs a basic drill to create muscle memory that she can do nearly everyday to correct something.

Interesting. How did she react to that ultimatum? Will she want to be on the team if she can't pitch?

A little dejected a little inspired. She's often frustrated with her speed. Like I said she was faster but lost speed during the change of style and some injury time off and haven't been able to get it back for a year or so. Other girls are at around 48-50. She's accurate and has recently developed a pretty nice flip change. She is a frustrating one to be honest. She wants to do well, but has trouble having her body listen to her mind. What might seem like un coach-able really isnt, so she gets some tough talk by coaches periodically.

She loves her teammates so much that I think she'll want to be on there regardless. She wont really have the discussion with me, because she says she'll make the goal. Im not so sure it'll happen and she'll be pretty crushed. I may be able to find a guest playing situation if she doesnt get any innings. Not sure what the etiquette is on leaving teams you've committed too either.

Best of luck to you both. I know it's gotta be tough, dealing with things like this and teenage kids' emotions. I'm not terribly equipped to deal with it, but fortunately my wife is. My "matter of fact" tone and approach isn't always appreciated. But happy to hear she's determined - that's a great start.

I think it stinks that she was given that ultimatum. Unless the coach thinks that it was needed for her to up her level of work. If you and DD signed up to pitch and they won't allow her to pitch then a quick conversation that she will need to find a team that will; should not be a surprise to them. If she really wants to pitch there will always be a team that will allow her into the circle. It may not be an "A" level team but pitchers are always in demand.
My opinion is that every girl willing to work hard and with proper direction, can hit 60 by senior year in HS. That may be contrary to what some on here think but I have seen girls at 5 feet tall get their speed up with hard work and dedication. All else depends on the commitment to putting in the work and effort. No one will say it's easy but it can be done.
