I’ve recently made the switch to I/R for DD. I always knew the greats were pitching different but never knew what it was till I found this sight. Now I do and made the switch. However, I don’t know of any instructors in the Howell, Nj area. I can handle the basics but I will need a trained professional to get her to the next level. 14u. Anyone know of a very good pitching instructor that teaches I/R technique?

Tincher is a great place to look. But also keep in mind there are coaches who teach IR without even knowing what it's called or that they are doing it. My advice is to find a pitcher who you are seeing in games either in HS or Travel who has great mechanics, throws harder than she looks like she should based on body type etc. Ask who she uses. I see it so often people find a coach who speaks a good game but after a year or so their kid only makes minimal gains. I have come to a place where I won't pay an instructor unless they have a proven track record of producing kids who are stud pitchers.

I’m in Jersey and its just my opinion but you are going to have to travel to find someone. If you want Tincher find Jen Mineau in Philadelphia she’s really good. Java is in western NY probably 5 or so hours from you. He’s the best you’ll find around here. There’s lots of pitching coaches ready to take your money, not a lot of good instruction.

Pac NW
In the Pac NW, there are only two people I would trust my daughter with. One only works with a VERY small group of pitchers, and the other only works with hitters. Driving or flying to see Balswick, Heliotes, Selden or Romrell isn't an option for us.

There are thousands of PC's out there. Many are very good about teaching the mindset or tactical aspects of pitching. Most have no idea when it come to mechanics... Really... Seriously... I'm not joking.

If you can get to Pauly or java--jump on it. Two of the best in the nation are within 5 hours of you. There are 24 hours in a day. Do the math.

Edit--Sorry, above I said "nation." Not sure what I was thinking... I meant "universe."

Pauly looks like he is in Georgia. A bit always from New Jersey. Java I cannot find. Do you have a first name.

Java is up in Western, NY (near Alfred)...pm him for further specifics at Javasource (aka Java, search community members on this forum or click his name on most of the stickies here in the pitching section, ie; Drive Mechanics, etc..). We try to visit him in person everytime we travel East from CO and it's well worth it. Just a note of caution however....he will ruin you as far as accepting most other PC's.
