It could be a feature and not a bug. Most high level pitchers have some sort of "gym step".

Depending on the severity it could be no big deal. One IP is not an issue. The walks may or may not be related. The increased velocity may take away some of the accuracy. Hard to say without video.

Just my thoughts.

a few months late but spot on Gunner!

DD had that issue last winter. I tried for months to help her break that habit with no success.
First pitch of her freshman year at HS ump issues a warning.
My head goes in my palm.
HS coach walks to the circle. Tells DD "if you do that again you won't pitch for me.
She has never done it since.

My oldest DD was called for it 6 or 7 years ago as well. Just curious BT3100 was the gym step completely off the rubber like Abbott and others?

Hers was a slight replant.. about 3 inches from the rubber.
It actually didnt help and sometimes hurt her. Once she figured it out she was good. But it was a pain..

So about 3 inches from the rubber meaning no foot at all on rubber and about 3 inches away correct?

The reason I ask is if what I describe above is correct, and assuming it is, I could see that getting called. Of course, they will call that but not a replant/repush, but that is another story.

I am big on the drive foot doing something and see many girls still as a statue with that foot which leads to all kinds of problems. If we can get them up on point, slide, paw, etc. etc. it seems to help and that was where I was going with this but didn't say that initially. If a pitcher started her drive foot more "back" on the rubber and slid it forward but her heel was still connected or touching would that get called? Probably not. Subtle ways to get it moving while still maintaining a legal pitch and that is just one way. Problem is you have to lift a bit or your cleats will trip you up. Again, just one way and many others.

Bottom line is starting with both feet touching a 6 inch rubber is not easy. IMO, that is why we continue to see as many "illegal" pitchers out there. Again, another story, but I am fairly confident there are more now than ever before in D1. I know KB at Florida has been the talk of the town for a few years now for IP but there is a freshman there that is pretty darn good and looks just like her. I will not mention her name and let somebody else do it.

Thanks BT for the response and good discussion nonetheless.
