Holy cow these spin rates are crazy. My DD and I played around with this today. She is first year 16u and i feel has a good drop. I do not like to catch her without equipment.

Anyway it was getting dark and we wanted to get a few throws in before it got dark. She was hitting 18 to 18.5 on drop, and let me tell you they were diving because of fresh seams. There is no way i would get in front of anyone that threw more revs than that without full equipment.

In contrast

Fastball 14.5 -15

Change 13

Rise 17

And Drop again was 18.5 for a high

Very curious here, I've read in baseball, they are not sure how to increase spin rate on fastball. This maybe where the difference of the peel and the rollover come into light. What type of drop is she throwing?

She has always thrown an IR FB with a close to 12-6 axis so I would call it a rollover.

We tried the RevFire v.2 tonight and keeping the phone nearby for reference she was able to move up her starting average of 14/15 to 17/18. She even got a couple of 19’s in there and the mph looked accurate.
I don’t think it was the ball measuring any different but rather recent focus on spin and seeing that more brush makes a difference!!

Interesting that I cannot see the difference between 14 and 19 rps but I can begin to hear it at 19.

On another note we tried a Bluetooth speaker to announce the results and it almost always cut off the first number. Probably the data from the ball interfering with the speaker momentarily.

Anyone know a conversion for shorter distances? I have about 30 feet as well......

Distance will not affect the accuracy of the spin rate. We have tossed it straight up, thrown into a tarp at 15 ft, played catch at 30 ft, and pitched at 43. No difference except you can throw over 114 mph if you have quick hands.

Dang! Sold out... Can't wait! Kinda worried about using it on a field. I can see myself cringing every time it hits the dirt or backstop!

There are so many cues I want to test out. When javasource came out for our clinic, I was blessed to throw with his RevFire for a few rise releases and the result was incredibly eye opening. The knowledge gained in just a few pitches has been golden for me and my kiddos. We didn't have time to play with drop or curve cues, so having my own I think will really help either confirm or clarify my thoughts on each of these pitches.

DD is a 2nd year 14, numbers I got from the version 2 aren't all that different from my version 1 Rev Fire.

Took the average of 5 pitches

Fastball
62.0 mph-----high was 63
20.6 rps-----high was 21.8

Backhand Change
40.5 mph-----high was 42
23.9 rps-----high was 24.7

Horseshoe Change
50.5 mph-----high was 51
12.9 rps-----high was 13.3

Rise
52.5 mph-----high was 54
29.3 rps-----high was 30.3

Spoke with Rick yesterday regarding this. He said that the inventor of the RevFire (Dave) says that the distance requires approx 25' to read, however the numbers displayed will not change despite it being thrown at 25' or 43'.... The speed it displays is very subject to the exact distance between the P and C

I'm still holding off on the purchase for a bit...anyone want to buy an old Zepp? ;-) When we worked a bit with Java this summer he was excited for the release of this product, he pulled out his RevFire and recorded a few different pitches from DD and as you say Ken it was eye opening (in a very good way)!

Those are really impressive numbers for 14u. I’d sign her, now.
