Anyone familiar with Tincher Strength Training for pitchers? Age appropriate for 12 year old and so on.

Just got it for my 14 year old DD. It's all about core building. It's the real deal, but save some money on the roller and bands and get them cheaper elsewhere.

Whatever they charge is too much.

Cheaper strength training: Get a subscription to Woman's Health Magazine for $12.00 per year. Every issue contains a new workout routine.

Do those workouts every month, and the pitcher will get stronger, and will learn how to use all kinds of equipment.

DD follows the Tincher strength training and feels that it’s helped her with core and leg strength. There’s quite a few exercises that require significant balance so I’m always on hand when DD is doing the set to ensure that she’s doing the exercises properly.

Wife and I were just talking about adding in some strength training for DD, who is now 13 (14U first year). We reached out to her pitching coach (Tincher) and we plan to use what he suggested. I know one girl who lifted weights and wish they didn't because their pitcher is no longer 'long and loose'. She's stronger, but not a better pitcher. So, we want to make sure we are approaching this cautiously. We'll see how it goes.

I am not certain but hopefully something about the program. I know many people have asked about workouts for pitchers.

I respect people like Tincher, Boardmember, Riseball, Sparky, etc, for their knowledge about pitching. But, come one, they know as much about athletic conditioning as they do nuclear physics.

A skilled athletic trainers can get better results in a shorter period of time while teaching your DD the fundamentals of strength training. That is the kind of knowledge that will last her a life time.

If you want someone who really knows athletic training for softball/baseball, there is Eric Cressey.

Another myth...

Weight lifting coupled with flexibility training is the best way to build speed and endurance in any athlete. Additionally, girls don't bulk up like boys.

If the kid regressed, it is because she had a bad pitching coach, not because she lifted weights.

Our DD now 13 started using the Tincher Strength Training about 6 months ago. We're pleased. It is something put together by a Exercise Science guy who also played baseball, worked as a strength and conditioning staff in MLB as a well. We asked a Certified Trainer that is a friend of ours...FWIW...he said he liked the program and would have designed something similar...

Bottom line...satisfy your own curiosity and make sure that who/what you use is helping your DD for for her sport. Good luck.

I have worked with football teams for about 20 years and have even met Eric Cressey, Gray Cook, familiar with Baseball Ranch training, and Coach Dos has always been my go to when lifting for football and know him fairly well. With all that said, my DD is very strong and kind of naturally muscular but is a pretty 5.2 and 125 pounds. Built like daddy and looks like mommy. Thank god on the last part. Worried about bulking up and she also has a medical condition that makes weight lifting probably not the best (spinal cord deal). She is released to do anything but. Also, needs a program we can do at home. I can piece something together but would like a cookie cutter for her at 12. We do some stuff already but not much.

Studied a little about the program but not much info out on it. Robbie Hebert is the guy that put the program together along with Tincher from what I understand.

I will also say that running gassers has helped DD with her push off tremendously. Getting the feeling of exploding forward was never a concept she understood prior to incorporating sprints into her exercise program.
