No.Looked up NCAA, ASA, and USSSA rules and all three show the as long as the hands are separated the ball can be in the glove. Is there any association that states the ball must be in the throwing hand?
The key is a noticeable "pause" when the hand and glove come together.
First off, don't even consider NCAA rules for anything but NCAA. And any other main rule set I am aware of (not taking into account any local rec misguided rules) the ball can be in either hand.
Some NCAA rules are the same, many others aren't. My point was do not look at NCAA rules for anything but NCAA. And the coaches you talked to obsviously don't know what they are talking about either if they are telling you some tournaments require the ball in the hand.
