Shaker, thanks and excellent GIF. Really has me thinking like Corlay above and you would think after all these years I would have this figured out....but the left leg to me seems to pull more than the right drives. Thoughts?

I think the "pull effect" you are seeing is that when she drives out, she is not reaching/extending the lead leg, but rather driving her middle (read: lead hip) forward through space.

But you really can see how "quiet" and controlled her body is overall.
And her lead foot plant is easily a foot shy of the circle line.

I also find it interesting that her "rocker start" results in her pushing from dirt, rather than the front of the pitchers plate.
Might give credence to the theory that the wider the feet are apart in the HP-2B axis, the greater ability to drive - and to drive in a controlled way?
(like how in HS the back foot can start not in contact and behind the pitcher's plate.)

Very good points Corlay. Thanks!

Yes, her speed is mainly generated from front side resistance and brush interference. After the initial push off, her back leg is essentially along for the ride.

thanks for this thread.
DD worked on keeping that stride leg LOW like how Rachel G does it. DD's stride leg used to go hip-high and mess up her timing. DD pivot leg (righthy) still has the tendency to drag like an anchor, but we're getting to that as well.

DD in today's practice just by getting that stride leg LOW and down quickly, it improved her timing tremendously!!!

stride distance is not all that is made up to be. since DD is only 5'3" (on a good day :)), she doesn't need to stride 8'. of course it is possible, but if it messes up the timing, why do it?

I know the thread is about legs but the brush you can see in the slow-mo gif is incredible. Huge component of throwing hard!
