On a bucket
She doesn't step straight .
What I've taught her is not to get turned on the rubber...drive straight out and snap stop the hips to a 45....I don't see the High Level pitchers doing what Bill says ...the clips obviously have the hips ahead of the hand to allow for that brush at the hip....Sideways and then the ball is ahead of the hips makes no sense to me. When my dd thinks get open...sideways...the drive is compromised.

The clip of Amanda she is driving out and her hips get sideways then snap back to a 45 at landing.

That's what I'm seeing...the hips beat the hand.
I see both in college pitchers. The hip will always have the opportunity to beat the hand, that's just the timing of things. Some teach to get inside the hip, some teach to just get a piece of the hip. I think as long as your not throwing around it your ok.

I would describe Amanda's position below as "Sideways" or "Open". In my view, she is well beyond 45 degrees in this position. Weather you coach, "Get Open", or rely on it occurring as a natural byproduct of the pitching motion is a different matter, but coaching NOT to open is a bad idea. IMHO.

at the top of the circle man..

Im talking about just before release...I said she get sideways and then hip snaps to a 45...You are not following the conversation and I do not agree with forcing OPEN.

The hips GET turned or snapped to a 45 prior to release.

You can show the opeNing at 12 oclock if you want to that has nothing to do with this. And they simply DO NOT PITCH OPEN! SIDEWAYS...WHATEVER YOU WANNA CALL IT!

Where are the hips now? SNAPPED to a 45

So, Amanda does "Get Open".

When a pitching coach says, "get open", in my experience, this is what they are referring to.

Amanda is also fully closed at release.

I will explain again

I am not talking about NEVER getting open. When i think GET OPEN ....I think throw from OPEN..I think the hand beats the hip....the hand or release is before the hips snap to a 45.

You have to get your mind off of OPEN and DOES SHE EVER...My post clearly speaks of OPEN at release and the hand ahead of the hips. Please stop bogging down the discussion with your inability to follow along.

Amanda is not fully closed at release she is at a 45 degree angle and she has forcefully snap to that position against a firm front resisting leg!

Amanda is OPEN IN THE AIR if we must! Or at 12 but at plant and as the ball comes down the back side she snaps to a 45 degree angle!

In a nutt shell i dont agree with Hillhouses comments that the release is ahead of the hips!
