“good” spin rate ranges for different pitches vary.
for a dropball: 18-20rps with correct axis is pretty deadly.
Not at high levels of play.
My DD made this video 15 years after she threw in college and after 15 minutes of warm up. Her spin rate on this pitch was 27RPS. I'm confident she was hitting 30+ RPS in college.
If a pitcher has a good riseball and the drop is used to set up the rise, then 20 RPS might be OK. If the pitcher's main pitch is the drop, then 20RPS won't get the job done. The ball isn't going to move enough.
(NOTE: My DD was a good D1 pitcher. She was not an elite pitcher like Pauly, Osterman, Scarborough, etc.)
