I’m convinced there isn’t a pitching coach in this state (Oklahoma) that teaches mechanics that actually mirror what high level pitchers do.

I can’t make the idea of paying any more money for instruction that I know isn’t ideal make sense to me anymore, so I’m going to take a crack at it.

For a girl that’s been pitching for almost a year now, which sticky should I start with? Should I start with IR? Drive mechanics? FSR? Does it matter where I start?

She will be 10 a week from today. She’s been pitching almost exactly a year. I’ll run out and see if I can get a video of her.

Forgive my back porch and her pajamas. This is the best I could get. If there’s a better angle or shot I should get, let me know.

Be very proud of her. For only having pitched a year, she's looking pretty good. You've got years to polish it. Be patient.

Doug is correct...for a girl that is just turning 10 I think she looks amazing! Is it perfect...no, but you have a long road ahead of you. My DD started at around 11, almost 12 years of age. She is not the most athletic out there and on most of her travel teams she was the 3rd option to pitch. What she did have going for her was work ethic and I worked to gain my knowledge to help her. I was blessed with an awesome pitching coach as well. This site was a great deal of help in her development. She is going into her senior year, plays on a high level travel team where she does most of the pitching, and she is committed to play in college. Take one thing at a time and keep it fun for her. As to the question of where to start....I would do another post titled something like..."where to start with a beginner" and post the videos that you have and get some expert opinions. I would say keep working on the IR....good luck!

Thanks! She just wants to get better so badly and I hate that I feel like I can’t help like her get there. I realize I’m probably lacking some perspective about just how young she really is, in the grand scheme of softball.

Thank you! I may do that!
