This might have gotten buried in the thread. If you use Chrome, copy and paste this link (clicking won't work) in your address bar and press enter:
chrome://flags/#enable-framebusting-needs-sameorigin-or-usergesture

Change the highlighted item to "Enabled" and it will block redirects. This will keep the ads from taking over. This only bandaids the problem (but does protect you and makes the site usable again). The owner of the site (who is making money on the ads) is the only one who can actually fix the problem.

I installed Adblock on my Android phone a few years ago and it worked fine. I cannot find it anymore except I have to install a whole new web browser with Adblock in it. Am I missing something?

I can't find a good adblocker for my phone (iphone). I only visit the site on a desktop because of this. I tried once to show my husband a thread and it took 10 minutes to get to what I needed to show him because i had to refresh or go back or try to beat the ad before it beat me.

I’m using Adblock plus on my idevices and have not had issues. Sometimes I have To turn it off because it stops too much lol

You had to install a whole new browser that included Adblock, correct?

I can't find any other stand-alone add-on to Chrome for my Android phone.

Did you try this (from above as well). It has worked on all of my devices:
