I agree about the angle on the board...she’s usually not at 90 degrees on turf or dirt but not exactly the angle she needs to be at either.

So by ball facing up at 9:00, if the ball should be facing the catcher at 12:00, there’s not supposed to be any rotation in the forearm or wrist until after 9:00, right? Then she should lead with the pinky? I may need some more explanation.

Also, since this is all free advice, any cues or drills we could work on to fix the leaping and getting her foot dragging the right way..and by the gifs that some of you posted, it’s toe down, laces facing the catcher?? Again...thanks so much for the advice!
Free membership gift!! Scroll down about a quarter ways though the document, to where the pic of the power line mat is, really good info on why to get away from the ibeam. Bookmark the doc for future use, all kinds of useful nuggets in there.

Wow...I just skimmed through the entire document..that’s overwhelming but filled with so much information! Thanks for the gift! Like Fastpitch dad said, I think we’re going to work on getting her throwing the right way with IR then work on drive mechanics. Or could I break up practices into two parts where we work on her throwing , then work on drives with lean and explosion without a ball? Disclaimer: I’m a high school football coach and a firm believer in fundamentals, but this pitching is so technical that it blows my mind!

Let me add one more thing. While you are doing underhand throwing go ahead and get Wasserman’s High Level Throwing and do overhand Throwing in the same session. It is the same concept of lag and whip with a fluid motion so both motions of OH and UH flow together and they might help her get the feel!!!

It is amazing how many kids that are otherwise talented have sore shoulders from not knowing how to throw.
