There are so many things in pitching to look at if you enjoy breaking it down. I think many if not most that frequent DFP want to learn all they can and I fall into that category as well. With that said, sometimes, the little things can be overlooked or forgotten which is the purpose of this post.

I am constantly watching video of DD and trying to analyze areas that we can find an edge, gain spin, gain speed, etc. etc. Anyway, was watching the video below and a few others last night and it dawned on me we haven't really focused in the last year or two on the ball coming off the fingers. We did this years ago and it was one of those things that I knew we had down so let's move on. So, I compared some recent video of DD and it appeared the ball off the fingers had become lazy or even non-existent.

So the point to the story is we re-focused on a simple fastball with emphasis on coming off the finger tips and the kid has never thrown any harder. All we did is focus on leading with the pinky and ending with the fingers applying energy to the seams. She was as surprised as I was (and I was pretty surprised :D)

As always, sorry for the longer than intended post but sometimes it is just the little things (the basics) that need tightening up.

I completly agree. My DD is putting more focus on this very thing. Its crazy how much a little thing that that can make a diffrence. In my case i could not tell until i got a camera that shoots almost as slow as the vid of Sarah. Then it became clear what she was doing.
