Thinking about buying DD metal cleats for the first time. All pitchers in our area still wear molded cleats. They do not like metal. Is that normal?

Everyone here 14U and up wears metal. Once they go to metal they hate using molded (on turf sometimes they can't wear metal).

DD resisted switching to metal at first year 14u. She finally made the switch 2nd year 14u and had never looked back. She refuses to wear molded cleats now. We got her a pair of turf shoes to wear on fields that do not allow metal.

Most of the girls of my DD’s 14u team wear metal. We replaced her rubber cleats last June/July and I didn’t want to buy another pair. When we need to replace these, I will look into metal cleats.

What age group is your dd playing? Metal isn't allowed at younger ages and that could be why you don't see it worn.

Back on the dirt...
We are about to move to 14u this summer/fall and will need to get some metal cleats as well.

We had a friend who’s DD quit playing and there was a bunch of different metal cleats in one of the bags. ( all to small though) one thing I had not noticed before was the different length of the spikes. There were 3 obviously different lengths. (They were not worn down. Some were still very new looking.).

Is there a good general length to look for? DD has a weak left ankle due to a break in the winter and she still favors it a little. I also dont want to put any unneeded stress on it if that is an option. She is mostly in the dirt but may get to play some outfield this fall.

The more spikes the better for balance and stability. Don't get cheap ones with only 7.

My DD was very nervous with her first pair and 5 minutes after putting them on has loved them and would never go back. Caution her to tuck her shoe laces in so they don't get stuck in the cleat of the opposite foot. And beware stepping off of dirt, grass or black top onto smooth concrete to quickly it can be slick at first like when hurrying into the rest rooms at the fields.

LOL. My DD will break something walking on cement.
