I’m noticing most of the pictures from the link to ken’s post above were stepping front foot and knee straight towards home plate. A correct form is obviously not easy to achieve or everyone would be doing it. Luckily my dd is 12 we have a long time to work on it.

Most of that is illusion from the angle the picture is taken from. Abbott lands more closed than most, but she isn't directly facing the catcher with her stride foot or knee. Ueno is probably the most closed pitcher I have seen, but she has some physical gifts that aren't replicated by most people.

Teach 45 degrees at landing. The pitcher will find their personal preference from there with time.

Zero degrees AND effective is rare. You’ll find great pitchers planting anywhere from 55 to 35 with similar hip/torso angles. Each kid seems to have a sweet spot. Recognize the strengths and deficiencies and build from there. Even with brand new kids—learn to see where they’re at and move from there vs trying to force a progression down their throats and getting frustrated when they don’t understand.
