when she doesn't warm up properly or methodically it takes two innings at least before she starts throwing consistently

I saw that with a top D1 pitcher (not anyone related to me). It was so strange seeing a normally dominant pitcher do so much worse for the first two innings of a game. Only during a post-game interview did the HC say the team arrived late and their star pitcher did not get her full warm up.

Have a specific and consistent routine.
After a full dynamic stretch, run, and overhand throw.
1. Lock it in drill (focus on release point ''brush" and full body resistance)
2. K drills (full body resistance with a smooth whip) Also use this time to work on spins and change ups
3. full circle (full body resistance with a violent whip)
4. walk in
5. jump starts
6. 2 steps
7. progressive tong toss (work out, then back in)
8. mound up. (figure out what pitches she really feels good about today)
Have a game plan on what you'll call based on her warm up and the batters tells. Go get the W

This routine seems excessive to me. Why not focus on warm up, spots and spins? Drills have their place for teaching a feel, but why force them on a kid who knows her pitches and needs to warm up?

Its a consistent routine, that emphasizes specific aspects of the motion. We only do 5 or 6 reps of steps 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
Again, the bulk of the time is spent working spins and spot.

Apologies for coming across as tired and grumpy! It’s a touchy spot for me right now with a local team that requires them to go through a long and regimented warm up routine for pitching with wrist flips, multiple arm circles, etc...

We don't require a specific warm up, we leave it up to the girls. After they have thrown over hand with the team and then hitting. They will all do some sort of flip/spin warm up then a quick windmill or K drill, then go into throwing. My daughter might throw 20-30 pitches. Our #1 throws a ton. I always ask her if she is going to have any left.
