Funny story and will try to keep it short unlike most of my posts. Rick is my DD's pitching coach so I want to make that clear. Okay, truth is he is not but that is what I tell everyone who asks who is....I am her coach and Rick looked at a vid of my DD several years ago and has answered several emails from me over that time. He is truly an Ambassador to the game and is incredibly helpful and taught me a ton so far. With that said, I hope Rick would not be upset, but when certain situations arise, he is her coach. For some reason, many coaches don't believe a Dad knows anything about pitching and maybe I don't but I have more than a 4 year degree here at DFP! Full Disclosure, I have repeated the classes many times....

Getting back to why I tell people he is my DD's coach.....they always ask when they throw out "let's start with wrist flips" or something else that is a waste of time I have to stop them in their tracks as I know our time is being wasted. BUT when I say her coach is Rick and explain who he is they get interested and all of sudden I have some credibility as DD has a coach that knows what the hell he is teaching. Point being, I don't have the credibility....YET... as I only coach my 2 daughters. However, I can keep the "every pitching coach on the corner in Softball USA" away when I mention Rick's name.

Truth is, I probably owe Rick some compensation for that, but it has been a huge help and I know with 110% certainty he as well as this site knows more about pitching than most you will find.

LOL If I paid Rick, Rich, Java, Bill, Denny, Doug, Boardmember, Brandon, Ken, Riseball, and many others that I've just failed to mention, for all the knowledge I've gained from them over the past 8+ years (plus the thousands of others I've learned how NOT to do it).... Id need to take out a second mortgage on my house!

tonight, well last night to be exact since it's after midnight, we completed our first session with Chris Cauthorne. He is a certified Tincher instructor from Richmond. From what i gathered tonight Denny requested him to be an instructor after working with his daughter. Denny gives lessons at his place from time to time and they either coach together on Glory travel ball or they both coach in some capacity on the teams. Cant remember the exact details but they have a working relationship deeper than him being certified.

Back to my daughter. She made some major improvement and he seemed very pleased with her ability coming in and what she finished with tonight. He loved her arm speed and I can attribute that to DFP because before i stumbled upon here she was fighting her natural arm movement and trying to force the HE finish. He cleaned up her warm up practices to 3 things and taught her to finish with the back shoulder behind her ear which straightened out her release and freed her arm up. She was bringing the speed on her own he seemed to get her throwing more strikes. He cleaned up her wind up and settled her down and he also had her stop bringing her drag foot into contact with the front foot on the finish. All these were baby steps but she really connected with him and he was really happy with what he saw and that really encouraged her. Non stop talking all the way home. I couldnt be happier with the results tonight.
