There’s more than one way to lose a game.....
pitching is only one and gets focused on the most. This is a team sport - so a little extra clean defense and good at bats can make a difference.

I applaud her for the mental maturity she’s wanting to bring to the circle! Way to go.

I think all the suggestions are good. From continuing to work on mechanics and adding speed, accuracy, movement, etc. I do believe a strategy of changing things up and understanding what has worked and not worked makes a ton of sense as well obviously. And I applaud your DD for looking at those kinds of strategies going into the game.

The only thing I would add is modeling positive behavior for the team. This is something my DD has always had to work on honestly. This good team they are playing will obviously get hits, she may not get calls, all her pitches may not be working etc. The key is to act and lead like no matter what is happening the team will win. Smile and encourage no matter what is happening. Be the loudest in the dugout, be constantly encouraging, etc. The team often takes it's cues from it's player leadership even at a young age especially their pitcher. So how she behaves and handles the game mentally can have as much impact as all the physical stuff. Just my .02!!

Good luck!!!

Thanks again everyone for the great feedback. I spoke with DD last night and we agreed that she would do the following: 1) write down her strengths/weaknesses as a pitcher; 2) apply her strengths to come up with a scripted pitch strategy against three types of hitters: lefty slapper (or typical leadoff batter), right-handed singles/gap hitter, right-handed power hitter; 3) get input on #2 from the team's primary catcher; 4) present the pitch strategy to the coach (preferably with the catcher if she is interested).

I could tell that #4 made her nervous, so we'll see how this goes. I know the coach will be receptive, but also realize that for most 11YOs, leading a discussion with a grownup can be difficult.
