What Rick, James and Ken said. ;)

Remembering that...

Young players (as well as advanced players) commonly begin by cheating at the waist, many never achieving the classic "h" posture at drive. Also, being uncomfortable is perfectly normal, and should be considered a positive effect in the reprogramming process if that process is sensible, beneficial and is being performed in a way which does not promote injury.

On a bucket

Blaire has a great lean. Added in a couple of pauses, one at the top of the back swing, peak of the lean, and one at 3 o'clock, when she leaves the rubber. Like how she stays on the balls of her feet once she gets going. Just something for a comparison or check points for your DD.

I had a new 11 YO student today with the exact same issue...

Ask your DD this: in every one of those reps did she feel like she shifted her weight between her feet 4 times?

Like this:

1: Weight on right foot; left foot toe down - Good
2: Left heel goes down (about 5 second mark) but I'm not convinced all\most of her weight came off her right foot
3: She starts her rocker step forward (about 6 second mark) but I'm not convinced she got her weight into the ball of her left foot\left heel raising in assistance to the drive
4: She fully transfers into her stride foot as she throws the pitch (about 7 second mark)

NOW just because I'm not convinced these transfers didn't happen, doesn't mean they didn't happen...ask her...she'll know...

The "rhythm" comes from these shifts...the "running start" comes from these shifts...

Make sense?

Definitely made some progress!

Push-back drill.... push-back drill..... push-back drill

Even try to get the push-back feel to her start keeping it legal. She needs that springy feeling in her feet, ankles, and knees.

Notice the springy look I speak of in that last clip Shaker posted as she has her arm at it's peak in back-swing. Got to be springy to get that thrust started.

Want to see what everybody thinks is better for starting your pitching motion. My DD just starts with a forward lean and goes. We recently attended a clinic with Rick Pauly and he recommended a rock back. After clinic we tried the rock back but DD didn’t like it. So wanted to see what all the pitching guys here think?

Ironically the entire answer is in your question. Just replace the “or” with “and”.
