First Post / Thank You

I have learned a lot from this forum, just wanted to say thank you to everyone who posts on here and helps keep us Western Canadians informed of how to pitch (IR) versus the Hello Elbow we are force fed up here regularly.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Welcome! Glad to have another member of our secret organization! The koolaid here rocks!

(Speaking of beverages, new member is in charge of coffee. I like a little chocolate syrup and cream in mine ;) )

Welcome...

As for the title of your post...think "out" then open NOT open then out...

+1

Count me as another who supports driving squarely forward but allowing extension to naturally open the body. The drive foot will do whatever is needed to support whatever the body is doing. If it’s trying to drive open, the foot will turn to support that effort. If the body is driving forward, it will turn less.

Could you explain that? I do not understand.

Shaker's gif is perfect.

The "order of operations" is where the "magic" lies IMO.

Watch Shaker's gif...as the arm moves up to 3 o'clock (there is a small pause in his gif) the pitcher's shoulders are still very "square" to the target.

As the arm moves from approximately noon to 8 o'clock, the shoulders and hips "open" as needed.

If you twist open and then move out...it's in efficient, IMO.

This is very simplistic, but if you think of leg drive in a windmill pitch as the first step of a 100 meter sprint, I would think that neither you or your DD would turn sideways as your first move off the starters line.

Get out...the "open" happens on it's own.

Drag box may help with turning the foot. DD has never had that problem but likes to use one in practice for some reason.
