Lots of "history of fastpitch" stuff on the web but I'm trying to find just some basic information on the history of hello elbow pitching instruction.

Yes...it's like a plague...but like any plague, there had to be "patient zero."

I'm not looking for a dissertation, just some basic info that I can addd into my presentation callled "you throw funny."

I have no idea where pushing the ball around the circle originated, but "Hello Elbow" is from Finch.

Funny thing is, they think its the correct way. And think we're trying to re-invent the wheel!
Back when my oldest dd was about 10, I took her to the local PC who taught HE... I didn't know any different either back then. I remember him specifically saying all the time..."gotta really push down the back half and snap that off" referring to a peel... LOL
We were with him about 2 years, her muscle memory never fully transitioned over into how we teach it now, and thus became a very average pitcher with a bad shoulder.

Really hoping you post this on YouTube! Here's a couple wrist flick videos that Doug created that always crack me up:

I subscribe to Doug so I've seen them...hilarious!

My biggest issue is that many of the instructors around here teach HE but throw I/R.

hmmm....

I will post it here in powerpoint form once I'm done. I may very well do a video as well as that might actually garner some more interest.

Youtube is full of this stuff. Too bad most of the videos are of poor quality, so slowing them down to see what's actually happening is near impossible. Watch what happens when the focus changes from one area to the next.
