I mentioned it in another thread, but figured I would start it's on. PC had DD working on her changeup with a 14" ball. I had seen these on line, but never used one. DD HATES it. I like the idea behind it. She will have to work harder to keep grip and get correct spin with the big ball. DD even thought PC had given her an 11" ball instead of 12" after throwing the big ball for a while. Amazing how much smaller the 12" feels after working with the bigger ball. Any cons on using it? Doesn't feel much heavier, but fills the mitt up pretty good.

I am with your DD...I am not a fan nor do I see the point. I know pitching and hitting coaches like to introduce drills to break up the monotony, and that's fine.

I would be wary of any change-up drill that forces you to vary your delivery movement (trying to mirror the fastball or speed pitch). A 14" ball is hard to grip and sometimes pitchers will compensate elsewhere.
