Just joined an indoor facility to take my daughter to. They have balls, tees, and the such in the cages to use. My question is, what do you take to sit on? There are no empty buckets and i'm not going to carry mine that has clay on the bottom. Do you take your on bucket that doesn't get on the dirt or do you have a short stool? New to the indoor cage setup. May just take a new bucket with me going forward. thanks

Lol.

I use a bucket with padding on top. I have inside and outside balls/buckets.

You need to sit on a bucket of balls, someone might think you know what are doing. :)

I use a shorter bucket (4 gal?) I often have parents/coaches ask me if I'd like to use their taller padded buckets (I guess a 6.4 tall guy sitting on a squatty bucket looks funny to some...) I think short buckets/stools give a better sight picture--especially for drop balls and change ups. I think you can get them at restaurants/cafeterias and paint shops.

I definitely agree that a shorter bucket is better for providing a more realistic target location. A typical paint bucket is 5 gal (ball bucket is 6 gal). You can pick one up at your local home improvement retailer for pretty cheap.

Just didn't want to get dirt on the turf. Looked for empty buckets laying around, but they may be reserved for more important guests. Indoors has worked out fairly well so far. Place is close to the house and DD has enjoyed it. May just be because it is something new. Will see how much we like as it gets away from the holidays and becomes busier.

Squat like a catcher. It might be tough the first few times but you will get used to it.

Wash your bucket?

that may take too much effort. Besides, It's freezing and snowing in south georgia. No milk or bread in stores so it's way too cold to get hands wet washing a bucket outside. Will just get another short one. May even get a soft cushion for it. Ha!

Items to include in the indoor bucket:
-roll of non-stick duct tape
-Pocket Radar
-throw down home plate
-3/8" thick pitching plate (fits perfectly inside the wall of the bucket)
-2-3 softies with various stripes
-Worth Liberty Advanced catchers mitt.
-notepad with pen
-Sharpie
-cup (I sit side-saddle)

If you haven't already, a hockey-style catcher's mask and shin guards are worth EVERY cent. There is no shame in protecting your shins and teeth!
